SPECIALTIES
While my focus areas are predominantly with first responders and their families, perinatal/postpartum health, and therapy for moms, I am experienced in many forms of mental health therapy. Most clients that find me a good fit are looking to process trauma, navigate life transitions, stress management, relationship conflicts, healing from abuse (in all its forms), grief/loss, career changes and/or challenges, and relationships.
First Responders
On day one of the Police Academy, my class was told by an old-head instructor, “you’re going to have a front row seat to the greatest show on earth”. And we sure did. But whether you are police, fire, or EMS, that privilege takes a toll, not only on you, the first responder, but on your families as well. The unique challenges of your work, such as high-stress levels and repeated exposure to trauma, will absolutely change you. There is no avoiding it. But change does not have to mean damaged. Partnering with the right therapist, especially one who has lived (and survived) it, can help you learn to protect yourself, your family, and to live with resilience.
Spouses/Partners of
First Responders
To the ones standing behind the badge, thank you. It is your courage, commitment, and sacrifice that allows your partners the ability to answer the call for service. It takes incredible emotional and mental strength to be a first responder family. The shift work, late-night callbacks, missed holidays, birthdays. The constant worry always there in the back of your mind. You are truly the glue that holds it all together, typically shouldering the majority of household/child responsibilities. Your path is unique, and we are here to walk with you, in whatever you are facing.
Children of
First Responders
Despite their inherent resiliency, children are not immune from the stressors of the job. It can be difficult for a child to understand why their parent misses their important life moments, and they may feel let down or disappointed. At some point, your little one will recognize the danger that goes along with your job, adding a whole new layer of stress and worry. We help children learn about thoughts, feelings, behaviors, relationships, and everything else, from a developmentally appropriate treatment perspective and approach. No subject is off the table, and all emotions are encouraged to be felt and processed.
Perinatal Mental Health
The life-stage of becoming and being a mother is meant to be exciting and filled with an abundance of love and joy. But sometimes, the journey takes unexpected turns. Perinatal Mental Health encompasses any and all issues that affect women during and after pregnancy as well as in conjunction with infertility, miscarriage, and perinatal loss.
Our passion here at Lighthouse Cove is helping women and their partners navigate the emotional and psychological struggles sometimes associated with family planning, pregnancy and the postpartum phase.
Therapy for Moms
Being a mother is one of life’s greatest gifts, and one you wouldn’t trade for anything. But it can be exhausting! As a mom, you put everyone else’s needs first. Therapy for Moms is a place where your mental health is the top priority.
No matter how old your children are, it’s never too early (or late) to invest in yourself. To rediscover and reconnect with who you are as an individual, to uncover and remove the barriers standing in your way. To master your work/life-balance, define your joy, and feel like the strong and unstoppable woman you are.
